Transportation

Local & Assisted Transportation is transportation to local medical appointments, the grocery store, bank, or pharmacy. There is a $1.25 charge (one way) for these trips, and planned trips to the grocery store, bank, or pharmacy require scheduling two days in advance.

To qualify:

  • Must be at least 60 years old

 

and/or

​

  • Have a disability

  • Be unable to drive

  • Live within a specified service radius

Rides are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Wheelchair accessible vehicles are provided for those who require this accommodation. Escort assistance to and from the vehicle, and into and out of an appointment or home is also available for those requiring this assistance.

 

Funding and support for these rides is provided by the Seniors Council Area Agency on Aging for Santa Cruz & San Benito Counties, the San Benito County Council of Governments, the Local Transportation Authority, and our dedicated team of volunteers and staff.

Out-Of-County Medical Transportation

is transportation to medical appointments outside of San Benito County.  Transportation is provided to the following: Palo Alto, San Jose, Salinas, Monterey, Watsonville, Santa Cruz, and Gilroy.

 

The service maintains a dedicated dialysis route to Gilroy. To qualify for rides through the program, a person must be at least 60 years old, or have a disability, and:

  • Live in San Benito County

  • Need a medical service which cannot be provided in Hollister

  • Have no other transportation available

  • Call one week before a scheduled appointment
